TEHRAN – The Parliamentary Foreign Policy and National Security Committee chairman said on Thursday that if a nuclear agreement is reached, parliament will support it.

Alaeddin Boroujerdi also said the nuclear talks have reached “very difficult stages”.

He went on to say that Majlis backs an agreement that safeguards Iran’s nuclear rights within the framework of the Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Boroujerdi stated that the Iranian people have shown that they are more powerful to let the sanctions “overwhelm” them.

On ISIL’s threats against Iran, he said the terrorist group does not have the power to approach Iran’s borders.

Even the U.S. and the countries that support such terrorist groups cannot threaten Iran, he added.

Essential measures have been taken to counter against any threat, the top lawmaker noted.
